Harvey, Parsons Jr. Remain in Rankings
January 26, 2016 | Wrestling
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Middleweights Brian Harvey and Russell Parsons Jr. of the Army West Point wrestling team remain among the elite of their respective weight classes in this week's polls.
"This time of year we can't afford to be focused on anything other than ourselves," said head coach Kevin Ward. "Recognition in the polls is nice, but we know we have work to do, and that is what we are focused on: improving every day. Russ and Brian are two guys that focus on the little things daily, so it's good to see them ranked, but they both understand there is still work that needs to be done."
Harvey finds himself in two different rankings this week. FloWrestling ranked the senior from New Palestine, Ind., 17th at 174 pounds while the InterMat poll seeded him 19th.
Parsons Jr. is ranked 17th by The OpenMat, although the Clinton, N.J., native has surprisingly dropped out of the InterMat's top-20 at 157 pounds for the first time this season after being recognized by the organization in the preseason poll and all 14 of the previous polls.
The Black Knights will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Lexington, Va., for the All-Academy Championships on Saturday, Jan. 30. VMI will host the annual tournament from Cormack Hall.
