Women’s Basketball Hosts Colgate in Mid-Week Tilt

WEST POINT, N.Y. – After picking up its second consecutive victory with a win over Loyola on Saturday, the Army West Point women's basketball team returns to the court on Wednesday, Jan. 13 to host Colgate in a Patriot League contest at 7 p.m.

STORYLINES
Army kicks off the second half of its regular-season schedule against Colgate. During the last three years, Army has faced Colgate more than any other team (eight times). The Black Knights secured their second win in a row and improved to 3-1 in the Patriot League after taking a 70-37 decision over Loyola on Jan. 9.
Senior Kelsey Minato was the game's only double-digit scorer, as she finished with 23 points to hit the 20-point mark for the 11th time this season and the 55th time of her career.
Minato, who was named Patriot League Player of the Week for the fourth time this year on Monday, enters the week ranked fourth nationally with 24.0 points per game.
The senior captain is shooting .638 (37-for-58) overall and .520 (13-of-25) from three-point range in three games since the turn of the New Year.
THE ARMY-COLGATE SERIES
Army leads Colgate, 37-21, in an all-time series between the schools that dates back to Jan. 10, 1984. The Black Knights won three games versus the Raiders last season, by a combined six points, including a 48-45 overtime win in the Patriot League quarterfinals.
ARMY WEST POINT (12-2, 3-1 PATRIOT LEAGUE) NOTES
• Seniors Brianna Johnson, Aimee Oertner and Jean Parker all scored six points in the Loyola game, with Oertner and Parker also controlling a game-high-tying eight rebounds.
• The Black Knights received strong contributions from their bench, as Army's bench finished with a combined 25 points to tie for the reserve unit's third-highest production this season
• Freshman Madison Hovren led all reserves with nine points and two rebounds, while sophomore Aliyah Murray tallied career bests of six points and three assists, and classmate Destinee Morris contributed five points.
• The Black Knights led for 37:35 against Loyola before completing their fifth win of at least 30 points this year, and their second in a row after winning by 33 at Lafayette on Jan. 6.

• Colgate fell to a 51-41 defeat at Navy in its last outing on Jan. 9.
• Senior Josie Stockill posted her third double-double of the year, with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while also adding a game-high three blocks, and sophomore Kateri Stone and junior Katie Curtis finished with nine points and seven points, respectively.
• Senior Paige Kriftcher paces Colgate with 12.1 points per game, while Stockill is the nation's leader in blocked shots, with 4.3 blocks per game.
• As a team, the Raiders lead the Patriot League with 6.7 blocks per contest and stand tied for first with 13.7 offensive rebounds per game.

Army has continued to shoot the three-pointer well this year after finishing each of the last three seasons atop the Patriot League in three-point shooting percentage (2012-13: 33.3 // 2013-14: 37.2 // 2014-15: 35.4). The Black Knights have made 41.9 percent of their three-point attempts and currently stand first in the Patriot League and second among the nation's Division I programs in the category.

Army's reserve players as a whole have played a significantly larger role in the team's scoring output so far this season compared to last. Through 14 games this year, the Black Knights' bench is averaging 17.7 points per game and accounts for 25.6 percent of the team's total points. The 17.7 points per game is up from a total of 9.8 points per game from the reserves in 2014-15, when the Army's bench made up 16.2 percent of its points.
