WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's basketball team announced its Patriot League schedule for the 2015-16 season on Wednesday. The Black Knights return all five starters and seven of their top eight scorers from last year's squad.
Patriot League play begins on the road for Army as it challenges Lehigh on Dec. 30 in Bethlehem, Pa. The team returns home for consecutive contests versus defending regular season champion Bucknell (Jan. 2), and reigning conference champion Lafayette on Wednesday, Jan. 6.
Three of Army's next four games will be played on the road, beginning with back-to-back contests at Loyola on Jan. 9 and Colgate on Jan. 13. The home game is slated for Sunday, Jan. 17 when the Black Knights host American, before they travel to Worcester, Mass., to face Holy Cross on Jan. 20.
The previously announced Army-Navy game on Jan. 23 at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y., will be played as part of a doubleheader with the women's team. The "Star" Game will mark the Black Knights' first trip to the "World's Most Famous Arena" since they played La Salle at the historic venue during the 1985-86 season.
Following the Navy game, Army will host Boston University to close out the first round of conference games on Jan. 27.
Three days later, the Black Knights play back-to-back road games versus Bucknell on Jan. 30 and Lafayette on Feb. 3. Army will then host Loyola on Feb. 6, prior to a welcoming Colgate to Christl Arena on Feb. 8.
Army plays three of its final five regular season games away from Christl Arena, beginning with a meeting with American in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 13. The team hosts Holy Cross (Feb. 17) before heading to Annapolis, Md., to face Navy at Alumni Hall on Feb. 20.
Boston University is the final road test (Feb. 24), before the regular season concludes against Lehigh at West Point on Saturday, Feb. 27.
The 2016 Patriot League Tournament will once again be played entirely at campus sites. The first round games are scheduled for March 1 with the No. 7 seed hosting No. 10 and No. 8 playing No. 9. Two days later, the quarterfinals begin (March 3), while semifinal contests are slated for March 6. The 2016 Patriot League Men's Basketball Championship will be played on March 9.
