WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's tennis team concluded its two-day tournament at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center on Sunday.
Each matchup was comprised of three doubles matches and six singles matches. The scoring was only for individual results, not team scoring.
As it was on Saturday, the Black Knights were led by the veterans on the team. Junior Grant Riechmann won the second flight in singles while sophomore Michael Nguyen continued his winning ways from yesterday, posting two second-flight victories; one in doubles and one in singles.
"I thought we had a very solid weekend," said head coach Jim Poling. "Our firsties provided great leadership, and that helped our younger guys start to feel more comfortable out there."
One of the plebes that felt particularly comfortable today was David Mitchell. The Castle Rock, Colo., native won two doubles matches today. The first one came alongside Austin McCormick in the first flight against St. Bonaventure, and the second one occurred in the second flight with Nguyen against St. Bonny's members on the All-Star team.
The Black Knights return to action next weekend, Sept. 18-20, as they travel to Houston, Texas for the Rice Invitational.
