Women's Soccer Announces Class of 2019

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point head women's soccer coach Marcia McDermott announced the addition of 10 cadet-athletes as members of the Class of 2019. The incoming class includes Helen Burleigh, Sarah Chamberlin, Nikiay Comer, Megan Gagnon, Jade Jamison, Brooke Richardson, Kayleigh Stallings, Samantha Sullenger, Brigid Tracy and Sydney Witham.
The newcomers hail from eight different states, including two apiece from Maryland and New Jersey, as well as California, Florida, Indiana, New York, Virginia and Washington.
"We are extremely excited to bring this class to West Point," said McDermott, who enters her third season on the sidelines for the Black Knights. "We have a talented group who we will count on to make significant contributions to our program this season and over their respective careers."
Jamison and Sullinger arrive at West Point by way of Maryland and were both four-year letterwinners at their respective high schools. Jamison attended Westlake and was a three-year captain who totaled 69 goals during her career, while Sullinger earned all-state honors splitting time between the midfield and defense at Quince Orchard.
Burleigh, a four-year starter in goal at Holmdel High School, joins Tracy as the two newcomers from New Jersey. Tracy was also a four-year standout at River Dell Regional High School and earned all-state honors as a senior. Â
A two-time team captain, Chamberlain was a three-time all-conference honoree at Calabasas High School. Chamberlain also held the captaincy of her club team Real So Cal and spent four years on the California State ODP team. Richardson, a fellow West Coast native from Washington, was named her conference's defensive player of the year as a senior. She played club soccer for Pacific Northwest, which claimed consecutive state titles in 2013 and 2014.
Comer played her first two years of high school soccer at Columbus High School (Ga.) before heading south to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. Her background includes 47 goals over two seasons at Columbus and international experience in Denmark, where her team won the 2014 Dana Cup.
Witham, who hails from Crown Point, Ind., joins Army West Point's 10-member freshman class with a number of successful club campaigns in recent years. Her squad, Eclipse Select Soccer Club, ended both the 2012 and 2014 seasons with national runner-up trophies.
Gagnon is local product from Cornwall Central High School with West Point ties who was a two-sport athlete and Valedictorian. She earned all-state accolades during her four-year career playing as a midfielder and on the back line, and also led the team in scoring as a senior.
Rounding out the Class of 2019 is Stallings, who comes from Fairfax, Va. Stallings was a first-team all-district player at Robinson Secondary School and served as team captain for her club team for nine years.
