WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army hockey team is back from its break and hosts No. 20 Merrimack on Tuesday night at Tate Rink at 7 p.m. on Time Warner Cable Sports Channel.
THIS WEEK: BACK AT TATE RINK AFTER HOLIDAY BREAK
The Black Knights return to the ice on Dec. 29 against Merrimack at Tate Rink. The Warriors were ranked in the 20th spot in the USCHO.com National Poll last week, but have won once in their last seven games. They were on a hot streak to start the season with only one loss in their first 11 games, but Merrimack sits at 7-4-5 entering Tuesday night's game after a 4-1 win over Canisius on Dec. 20.

NEXT WEEK: ARMY WELCOMES UMASS TO WEST POINT
The Black Knights welcome Massachusetts for the final non-conference game of the season on Jan. 2. Like Merrimack, the Minutemen started off the season with a 4-1-1 mark, but have hit a rough stretch. Massachusetts is winless in its last nine games with a 0-6-3 record. LAST TIME OUT: CLOSING OUT FIRST HALF AT AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL
Army finished off the league portion of its 2015 schedule with two games at AIC in mid-December. The Black Knights dropped both games in heartbreaking fashion with overtime losses each night. Clint Carlisle finished the weekend as the team's high scorer with a goal and two assists for three points. Christian Pomarico chipped in with two assists over the weekend and is two off his career high for a single season. Joe Shecter became the 18th skater for Army to record a point this season with an assist on Dec. 12.

AMONG LEADERS
Rookie Trevor Fidler has jumped up to the top of the list for rookie scoring leaders with 10 points on the season. He has four points in his last four games, including two goals and two assists. He added an assist against AIC on Dec. 11 and had his second career multi-point game against Sacred Heart on Dec. 5 to help the Black Knights to a weekend sweep.

HEATING UP
Ryan Nick continued his best start of his career with four points in his last four games, including two more goals. He is now tied for the team lead in goals with five after coming into the season with one career tally. He added an assist on Dec. 11 against AIC, but had his four-game point streak halted in the 3-2 overtime loss on Dec. 12 to the Yellow Jackets.

POWER PLAY CONSISTENCY
The Army power play has been extremely effective this season as the Black Knights are averaging a goal on the man advantage each game. They are at a 20.3 percent success rate heading into the weekend, which is third in the conference. Conor Andrle, Joe Kozlak and Trevor Fidler are tied for the team lead in power play goals with two apiece.

Army has scored 38 goals this season and they have come from 14 different skaters. Ryan Nick and Brendan McGuire lead the way with five goals, while Trevor Fidler and Clint Carlisle have four apiece.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
Merrimack enters its game with the Black Knights after a 4-1 win on Dec. 20 against Canisius The Warriors are 7-4-5 coming into Tuesday night's game and have posted a 2-3-5 mark in Hockey East play so far this season. They started the year with a 6-1-4 mark and a high national ranking in the USCHO.com National Poll. Since Nov. 13, Merrimack has gone winless in six games with a 0-3-2 mark and sit No. 20 in the national poll as of Dec. 14. The Warriors are averaging 2.62 goals per game and have been struggling on the power play with five goals on 49 chances for a 10.2 percent success rate. They scored on the man advantage against the Griffs.

Seniors Brian Christie and Ben Bahe lead the way for Merrimack. Christie is the team leader in points with 13 on four goals and nine assists. Bahe has posted 12 points on a team-best five goals and seven helpers. Junior Hampus Gustafsson has added 11 points as well and New Jersey Devils draft pick Brett Seney has 10 points, along with Justin Hussar.

In net, Collin Delia has started all 15 games for the Warriors and has played almost 900 minutes this year. He has a .917 save percentage, and a 2.14 goals against average.

This will be the 40th all-time meeting between Army and Merrimack, dating back to 1959 when the Cadets defeated the Warriors by an 8-4 score. Merrimack owns a 23-15-1 record and has won 14-straight games. Army has a 17-8-1 lead at home against the Warriors in the series and this is the first meeting at Tate Rink since 2010.
