POMONA, N.Y. – The Rockland Boulders, in conjunction with Army West Point Athletics, announced Wednesday that the Black Knights baseball team will host the Hartford Hawks on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Provident Bank Park. The contest marks the first Army athletic event to be held at the home of the Rockland Boulders.
Â
"Our team is extremely excited to take part in this game," head coach Matt Reid said. "Having the opportunity to showcase our program in a first-class facility at Provident Bank Park will be a memorable experience for our players, staff and fans. We are looking forward to playing against very good opponent in Hartford and treating our fans to a terrific day of baseball."
Â
Continuing a Rockland Boulders mainstay, the Mother's Day matinee will feature "Kids Run the Bases" following the conclusion of the game. The contest will be free of charge, but fans looking to attend the game will require a ticket to enter. All ticketing information will be released at a later date. Concession stands will also be open for the game.
Â
"We are delighted to partner with the Rockland Boulders organization to make this experience possible," Army Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan said. "We will continue to provide unique opportunities for our cadet-athletes and I am confident it will be a tremendous event for them, our staff and our fans."
Â
Army compiled a 21-26 record in 2015, and opens up the 2016 season on Feb. 19 against Bryant at the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, N.C. The Rockland Boulders, and Army have been sustained partners for the last four seasons, including advertising with one another as well as having members of the West Point Color Guard and West Point Band attend and perform at games throughout the season.
Â
"It is a distinct honor to partner with Army West Point so that the Black Knights baseball team can compete at Provident Bank Park in May of next year," said Rockland Boulders President Ken Lehner. "America is the definition of freedom because of the dedication of Cadets, active members of the military and veterans. We will use this baseball game as an opportunity to thank one and all for their service and sacrifices."Â
