Football Game Notes: The Tulane Game

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army football team will play its first home game in a month with a visit from Tulane on Saturday at Michie Stadium.

The Black Knights are 2-7 following a 20-3 setback at Air Force last Saturday on a beautiful day at Falcon Stadium in Colorado.

Tulane, a member of the American Athletic Conference, is 2-7 overall and 1-5 in conference games.

Army is averaging 21.8 points per contest and ranks ninth nationally with 257.4 rushing yards per contest.

The Black Knights are allowing 27.6 points per game and lost four of their games this season by a touchdown or less.

Fullback Aaron Kemper leads the team in rushing with 431 yards on 70 carries. He is averaging 53.9 yards per game and 6.2 yards per carry. Kemper has reached 100 yards in two games this season.

Quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw has chipped in with 396 rushing yards to rank second on the team. He averages 56.6 per game with a team-high 110 attempts in seven games played.

Defensively, Andrew King leads the Black Knights with 73 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 quarterback sacks. Jeremy Timpf shows 69 tackles, 13 more than Xavier Moss. Brandon Jackson has two of the team's four interceptions.

Following the Tulane contest, Army will play its final home game of the 2015 season as the Black Knights welcome Rutgers on Senior Day. CBS Sports Network will carry the broadcast.

• It was the 50th all-time meeting between Army and Air Force.
• Army wore all white uniforms, including white helmets for the first time in its history.
• Michael McFadden and Kelvin White served as game captains and joined season captains Jeremy Timpf and Matt Giachinta for the coin toss.
• North Las Vegas, Nev., native T.J. Atimalala carried the American flag onto the field prior to the game.
• Army won the opening coin toss for the sixth time and deferred to the second half.
• Army played in a scoreless first quarter for the third time this season.

• Center Matt Hugenberg started his 21st consecutive game, the most of any Army offensive player.

Tulane enters Saturday's contest against the Black Knights with a 2-7 record following a 7-3 loss to UConn this past weekend in New Orleans. The Green Wave are 1-5 in The American conference and have yet to win a road game this year. Victories against Maine (38-7) and UCF (45-31) put Tulane at 2-2 after starting 0-2, but it has since lost five consecutive games.

Tulane is averaging 16.3 points per game and surrendering an average of 34.4 on defense, but has played a schedule that has a 43-15 combined record to this point in the season.

Three different quarterbacks have taken snaps under center for the Green Wave, sophomore Tanner Lee, junior Devin Powell and senior Jordy Joseph. Lee has started seven games and is 120-of-225 on the year with eight touchdowns and six interceptions, while Powell and Joseph have each thrown one touchdown in limited action. Wideouts Teddy Veal and Devon Breaux have three touchdowns apiece and 35 and 23 receptions, respectively.

On the ground, Dontrell Hilliard has seen a majority of the workload with 424 rushing yards on 80 carries (5.3 avg.) and six rushing touchdowns. Sherman Badie has two scores to his name, and is second on the team with 213 rushing yards on 50 attempts (4.3 avg.).

Defensively, Nico Marley leads the team in tackles with 61, including 10 for loss, while Darion Monroe has 58 total stops and leads the team in takeaways with four, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
