Army-Navy Cup IV Set for Tuesday at PPL Park

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Entering the week tied for the sixth and final Patriot League Tournament spot, the Army West Point men's soccer team heads PPL Park in Chester, Pa., to meet Navy in Army-Navy Cup IV Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Black Knights have nine points and stand tied with Bucknell for sixth in the Patriot League standings, a point clear of eighth-place Holy Cross and two points ahead of ninth-place Lafayette. Army and Navy each have two matches remaining in the regular season while the league's other eight teams have one. Navy enters Tuesday fifth in the conference with 12 points.

Tuesday will mark the fourth installment of the Army-Navy Cup, which has been played at PPL Park, the home of Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union, each year. Each of the previous three matchups between the service academies have been decided in double overtime, with the sides playing to a 1-1 draw in 2012 before Navy captured 1-0 victories in the 107th minute during the 2013 and 2014 contests.

The Midshipmen hold a 40-27-14 overall lead over the Black Knights in a series that dates back to the 1938 season. Army's last victory in the rivalry came with a 1-0 win in 2008, capping off three straight wins for the Black Knights in the series.

Last season's Army-Navy Cup, played on Nov. 7, drew an attendance of 10,168 fans, which was the third largest crowd in the nation last season. The first game between at academies at PPL Park had an attendance of 3,672, while the second installment drew 7,416 fans.

• Army came from behind to finish with a 1-1 draw against a Boston University team receiving votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America national poll on Saturday.
• The Black Knights surrendered a goal in the first half to the Terriers, but senior Cody Guerry tallied his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 58th minute to knot the game at 1-1.
• Senior Tommy Jaeger and sophomore Okheem Riley registered assists on Guerry's game-tying goal, while senior Chris Britt finished with a career-best 10 saves in net.
• Guerry leads Army with four goals, three assists and 11 points this season, while juniors Christian Ollen and Nick Williams and sophomore Shaban Abousaud all have two goals.

• Navy is coming off a 4-0 road victory over Lafayette on Saturday.
• Four different Midshipmen scored in the game, with Aubrey Jones, Michael Parker, P.J. Suess and Daniel Zaremba all recording goals.
• Goalkeeper Jackson Morgan made three saves before backup Mac Burke made one stop in the final 10:12.
• Jones paces Navy with four goals on the year, while Derek Vogel (three goals, four assists) is the team's leading point scorer with 10.
