Army Football Top Moments: Number 4
November 18, 2015 | Football, Athletics
WEST POINT, N.Y. - In celebration of 125 years of Army football, the Army Athletic Association is counting down the top 10 moments in program history each Wednesday during the remainder of the 2015 football season. A fan vote and a panel of athletic department officials combined to determine the list of top moments.
Number 4 – Army's Come-From-Behind Victory in the Army-Navy Game (1996)
With a Independence Bowl bid and the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy on the line, Navy jumped out to a 21-3 lead with three second quarter touchdowns at a rainy Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Black Knights responded with a 44-yard touchdown run by quarterback Ronnie McAda and then turned a Navy miscue into three more points by halftime.
Trailing 21-13 at that point, Army received the second-half kickoff and on the second play of the third quarter, running back Bobby Williams raced 81 yards to pull the Black Knights within two prior to a failed conversion.
A missed Navy field goal gave the ball back to Army and McAda struck again, ripping off a 45-yard run to set up the offense in a first-and-goal situation. Demetrius Perry scored from three yards out as Army went ahead 25-21 late in the third quarter.
A.J. Parker tacked on his third field goal of the afternoon to push Army ahead 28-24 and the Black Knights defense held Navy with two goal-line stands to seal the victory.
