October 29, 2015 | Men's Soccer
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Army West Point men's soccer junior defender Christian Clark was recognized on the 12-player Division I Academic All-District first team on Thursday for his efforts on the field and in the classroom. The honorees were selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Clark is the first Black Knight to draw Academic All-District praise since Winston Boldt (USMA '15) did it in 2013.
By earning a spot on the Academic All-District first team, Clark becomes one of 96 Division I men's soccer players from across eight regions to be eligible for the Academic All-America Team, which will be announced next month.
To be nominated for the Academic All-America Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, and be a starter or significant reserve on the team with a 3.3 cumulative grade point average or higher.
Clark carries a 3.870 cumulative GPA as a Physics major at West Point. He has qualified for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in each of his first two seasons after finishing the fall semester of his freshman and sophomores years with above a 3.2 GPA.
A native of Pleasanton, Calif., Clark was selected to the All-Patriot League first team after a sophomore campaign in which he started in 19 of 20 matches and recorded two goals and two assists. He has started in all 14 matches so far this season while appearing in every minute of 12 different games to include Patriot League contests against American, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lehigh and Loyola. Clark has one assist this season, which came on the first goal in Army's 3-2 victory over Lehigh on Oct. 11.
