Army-Navy Cup IV Postponed to Nov. 3
October 01, 2015 | Men's Soccer
CHESTER, Pa. – Army-Navy Cup IV has been postponed. Originally scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2, the decision was just officially made to move the match to Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. The forecast of high winds and heavy rains potentially through Sunday has created a scenario believed to be unsafe for players, coaches and fans of the event. Because of this forecast, the decision has reluctantly been made to move the match to Nov. 3.
"Even though the Army-Navy Cup will be delayed, we continue to look forward to another installment in this great rivalry," said Army West Point Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan. "This matchup has become one of the premier events of the college soccer season and we're excited to watch it continue to grow."
"We are sorry for the inconvenience to so many but this is a matchup that is truly worth the wait," said Navy Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk. "The game may be delayed, but it will only enhance the anticipation for what always proves to be as fine a competitive setting as there is in college soccer."
All tickets, purchased and distributed with Friday night's date will be accepted on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Please monitor www.philadelphiaunion.com and www.pplpark.com for additional information. Tickets are available at comcasttix.com.
This year's installment of the Army-Navy Cup will be the third consecutive match in the series to be played in November after the previous two games were contested on Nov. 7 in 2014 and Nov. 8 in 2013.
Army (2-4-2, 0-1-0 Patriot League) wraps up its current road trip on Wednesday, Oct. 7, when the Black Knights head to Worcester, Mass., to face Holy Cross at 7:05 p.m.
